Repeat Prescriptions

TELEPHONE

Please telephone the practice in the afternoon if you are ordering a repeat prescription. This is to lessen the volume of telephone calls during the busy morning clinic, allowing us to attend to calls from any urgently ill patients efficiently.

WRITTEN REQUEST

A written request for prescriptions can be made by post or by email (info@merriongatesmc.ie). Dropping/posting a PRESCRIPTION ORDER FORM (click here to download) or written request to reception.

COLLECTION

Please allow 48 hours for repeat prescriptions. Please inform us if someone other than the patient will be collecting the prescription. Alternatively we are happy to post your prescription to you if you supply us with a stamped addressed envelope.

PRACTICE PRESCRIBING POLICY

We want to provide you with the best quality medical care. This includes the way medicines are prescribed. You might notice this in the way we:

  • try to avoid unnecessary antibiotics, for example in treating the 'common cold'(see CDC or HSE for further information).
  • actively discourage the long-term use of medicines such as sleeping tablets or anxiety tablets (see NHS UK for further information).
  • might invite you to attend for a 'MEDICATION REVIEW' if we have not seen you in some time and you remain on long term medicines. We will always endeavour to discuss fully the prescribing choices we face during your visit and keep you informed on what monitoring, if any, your medications require
